For almost two decades, the F-ONE Bandit has stood for versatility, control, and pure riding pleasure. Few kites have shaped the scene as much – and few models have been so consistently developed.
With the Bandit TEC and the Bandit Brainchild, F-ONE now presents two modern interpretations of the classic, which clearly appeal to different riders – but both carry the typical Bandit DNA.
We tested both – and KBC team rider Rafael flew the Brainchild extensively. Here's our verdict.
The Bandit TEC – Trust and Versatility
The Bandit TEC is the kite you fly when you want it all: stability, control and the freedom to get the most out of every session.
In our KBC centers we use it specifically because it is technically demanding but at the same time accessible – a kite that delights both beginners and experienced freeriders.
The new CODE-TEC material provides greater stiffness at a lower weight, which is immediately noticeable in the air. The kite remains stable, even in gusty conditions, pulls smoothly, and inspires confidence – exactly what you want in changeable conditions or when learning new maneuvers.
The Bandit TEC reveals its sporty character when jumping: the lift is explosive, yet remains easily controllable. Hang time is solid, and the kite always gives you a clear sense of its position in the wind window – this inspires confidence, especially in gusts or during your first jumps. The bar pressure is slightly increased, which provides many riders with more direct feedback and makes control even more intuitive.
The Bandit TEC spins tightly, reacts precisely and always remains predictable – not a loop monster, but a damn reliable companion that will never surprise you.
It's also forgiving and robustly built, easily handling longer sessions, sand, sun, and the rigors of daily kiteboarding. A kite that won't punish you if you react too late, but will instead support you in staying with the flow and maintaining your confidence.
A true workhorse with a modern character – reliable, precise and durable.
The Bandit Brainchild – High-end meets emotion
The Bandit Brainchild is the result of years of development and high-tech production at Brainchild Productions in North Macedonia. Here, every detail is perfected: new materials, innovative welding processes, and finely tuned profiles make the Brainchild one of the most technically advanced kites F-ONE has ever built.
Instead of sewn segments, F-ONE uses the new PROWELD® process for the Brainchild – the panels are ultrasonically welded and additionally bonded. The result: a lighter, stiffer, and more precise kite that barely deforms, even in strong winds.
Combined with the revised canopy material, this results in an extremely smooth flight profile – no fluttering, no “rattling” in tight turns, simply pure control.
Our KBC team rider Rafael (78 kg, 11 m² Brainchild, Twintip 136 F-ONE Spark, Atom Bar 52 cm, 22 m lines) extensively tested the kite at 9–20 knots and reports enthusiastically:
"What immediately stands out is the direct, almost effortless steering feel – it's reminiscent of the Trigger Brainchild, but feels even more precise."
The depower mechanism is extremely linear and remains constant across the entire wind range. Even in stronger winds, the holding forces only increase slightly, never uncomfortably.
The kite reacts extremely directly, turns tightly and remains stable – perfect for waves, freeride and maybe even foiling. It delivers excellent lift and stable hang time when jumping, and it truly shines in kiteloops. The 11m flies through the loop so fast that it always catches you cleanly. No fluttering, no unpredictable behavior – simply smooth.
For me, this is the best Bandit version in years – a real fun machine!
And that's exactly what you can feel even without measurements: The Brainchild is more agile, more reactive and at the same time more controlled.
What's particularly exciting is that the 14m Brainchild's lightweight construction allows it to fully demonstrate its strengths – even in light winds it remains lively, agile, and extremely efficient. Not a sluggish light-wind kite, but a true lightweight with power that's fun even in marginal conditions.
The Brainchild also demonstrates F-ONE's achievements on the foil: the kite drifts stably, responds sensitively to steering inputs, and remains absolutely calm – perfect for slow speeds and precise power management. So, anyone looking for a kite that excels on twintips, surfboards, and foils will find the Brainchild to be a versatile yet highly precise weapon.
Conclusion
With the Bandit TEC and the Bandit Brainchild, F-ONE shows how different a kite character can be – yet the heart of the Bandit remains palpable in both.
The TEC is the kite you can trust: robust, balanced, and versatile. It helps you improve – in every session, in any wind.
The Brainchild is the kite that challenges you – and rewards you for every daring move with pure riding feel and performance. Whether in big air, in the waves, or on the foil – this kite delivers.
Or, as Rafael said after his test:
"Simply a fun machine. With this, F-ONE is once again at the forefront of one-size-fits-all kites."
